COACHES

Varsity Head Coach Johnny Trevino

Coach Trevino is in his sixth year of coaching soccer at Southridge High School.  Trevino has been involved with the boys soccer team as the JV coach since 2009 and became the Head Coach of the program last season in the Spring of 2013.  Coach Trevino has also served as a Varsity Assistant Coach  for the SHS Girls Soccer Team since 2010.

Coach Trevino developed a passion for the game at a young age waking up at the crack of dawn to watch the now famous Manchester United “Class of 92” play.  Trevino spent two years in Southern Brasil in the most soccer rich environment on planet watching and playing with the Brazilian people as they demonstrated “Joga Bonito” or “The Beautiful Game”.  This passion and excitement for the game lives on as Trevino has pushed his teams to develop mental toughness, physical fitness, technical ability, and the same passion for the game that he shares.  Coach Trevino’s philosophy is that the game of soccer is a life game and that by participating you become part of a culture which transcends the game itself.

Coach Trevino grew up in the Tri-Cities attending Richland High School.  He attended college in Utah at Brigham Young University and studied Engineering.  He currently works for the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as a Nuclear Facilities Systems Engineer.  Coach Trevino is married to Julie Trevino and has two children Lexi (6), and Danielle (4), with another girl on the way.

Assistant Coach Reid Craigo

Coach Reid was born and raised in the Tri-Cities area and a proud alumni of Southridge High School. Reid has had many opportunities to be coached by some of the best position coaches in the local area and outside the area in his many soccer ventures. Reid, in his playing career, primarily was a solid, athletic, defensive player that received good notoriety at even a young age. From Southridge High School soccer to playing in amateur club and some semi-professional club play, Reid’s talents were slowly transitioned from defense to midfield, then to forward, eventually soon becoming primarily a center midfielder. Reid had multiple opportunities to play college soccer from primarily many of the local colleges in the area and interest from Air Force Academy. Reid continued to play amateur soccer and was part of his club's 1st place and 2nd place finishes in competitive play.

His coaching experience started after high school gaining initial experience coaching players with his former High School team as a volunteer, focusing on offensive play and skills. Several years later he was invited to coach at the club level for Three Rivers, first taking on fill-in responsibilities which included U-14 and U-15 boys helping coach them to improved success. Then head coach of a U-12 and U-13 girls team that soon became one of the most competitive and successful teams in the age group and league. He has enjoyed watching and seeing his former players move on to become great athletes at the high school and college level.

Reid will be entering his 2nd season at Southridge with the primary responsibility of the Junior Varsity squad.
